YOUTH

Mental Health First Aid

One in ten young people experience a mental health issue at any one time. Suicide is the leading cause of death for those aged 5-19 .

In an average group of 30 15-year-olds:

Seven are likely to have been bullied. Six may be self-harming and one could have experienced the death of a parent.

Record levels of young people are struggling. Academic pressure, social media, bullying, poverty, lack of availability of professional mental health support – all have been named by various sources as contributing to this epidemic of poor mental health in our young people.

It’s clear that young people are not getting the support they need.

Key figures in a young person’s life – parents, family members, teachers, tutors, carers, youth workers – can often spot when a young person is struggling but may not know how best to help.

Feedback | NHS

Lucy is very good at explaining and keeping the energy up, despite the course taking place online. She evokes the idea of safe space, and set out clear guidance for standards at the beginning of session including rationale (privacy, confidentiality) and employed positive reinforcement techniques which validated people when they voiced opinions. Lucy encouraged people to get involved.

There was no pressure and I felt happy to contribute. I feel I learnt a lot and the material was accurate for what it set out to do.

Thank you Lucy!

Gender-Inclusive | Diversity | Inclusion

Using gender-inclusive language makes a big difference in a workplace and/or training  environment. It makes everyone feel welcome, no matter their identity and it sets an example that gender-inclusive language is the norm and that no one should assume anything about someone without asking first. We shouldn’t have to leave parts of our identity behind - be that our cultural or ethnic background, sexuality, or health – in any workplace or training environment. It’s important to remember that by putting diversity and inclusion at the centre of mental health and wellbeing, we can create a culture built on respect and collaboration, where everyone can be themselves.

Online Training

Online courses are delivered through an online platform of your choice.

Training | Feedback

I have attended many, many, many training courses over the years and can honestly say I have never been so engaged with the material. I believe this was largely down to the engaging and passionate delivery of the course. I have found this LIFE CHANGING and I think it is so rare to feel like this as a result of a training course. Thank You Lucy so much.
