"Lucy Hine completed the Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and brought her wide range of experience and knowledge to group discussions. Lucy brought a fresh and unique perspective to group practices and showed determination and commitment in completing the course, which she did in a timely manner. Lucy displayed real care and consideration for her fellow students, skills which I am sure are also evident in her client work".

Private Therapy | Clinical Hypnotherapy

St Albans, Hertfordshire

I trained as a Clinical Hypnotherapist to not only add value to the work I already do with clients surrounding their mental health challenges but to introduce the alternative option for people who especially find it difficult to talk about their issues. I have particular interest in helping people manage their anxiety including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and stress, but also in healing from  pain and trauma.

Hypnosis is a state of mind, or an altered state of consciousness. Hypnosis is a natural state which occurs regularly in everyday life - when daydreaming, when watching a film, when about to fall asleep. During hypnosis many people display improved communication between the conscious and sub conscious mind. It is characterised by an openness of mind which is receptive to suggestion. Whilst hypnosis is a natural state entered into throughout our day, it can be induced - or brought about.

Client Feedback

Lucy is incredible. There is no other Therapist that I would trust as much as her. She has a warmth about her that I find hard to describe and works with her natural energy as well as bringing her highly knowledgeable skills to the session. I noticed a difference after just one session and have been using her recordings to help me manage my anxiety.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be hypnotised? As long as someone is willing to enter a state of hypnosis, a hypnotherapist can learn induction techniques to induce the state with most people.

What happens to me during hypnosis? Hypnosis is characterised by an enhanced state of awareness, where the person in hypnosis is able to concentrate entirely on my voice (the hypnotherapist).

What will I feel happening to me? Physical symptoms of hypnosis include a relaxed face, slowed breathing, increased swallowing, slowed heart rate, changes in brain waves, changes in body temperature and feelings of floating or sinking, feelings of tingling.

Do I need to lay down? It is your choice to relax how you want to relax, on a chair or bed. I can work flexibly with however you feel comfortable.

What is the difference between hypnotism and hypnotherapy? Hypnotism is often associated with stage magic and shows which involve a hypnotist working with people in a state of hypnosis but not for therapeutic purposes. Somebody who uses hypnosis for entertainment would be a hypnotist. Hypnotherapy uses techniques to enable a person to enter a state of hypnosis for the purpose of effecting a therapeutic outcome. The hypnotherapist effectively has two roles - that of a hypnotist who enables a person to enter a state of hypnosis - and that of a therapist who helps the person reach their therapeutic goals | Therapy

Do you work with children? I work with people over the age of 15.

Do you offer home visits? Yes, as with all my mental health services a home visit is possible within the Hertfordshire area, however additional fees will apply outside of St Albans.

Private Health Cash Plans are increasing in popularity and can offer additional health cover for individuals often at minimal monthly cost. Policies can be funded by an  employer or purchased by an individual, for themselves or for their family. They  work by processing claims for reimbursement for healthcare costs not funded by the

NHS or private medical insurance policies. Each company offers different levels of  coverage, which reimburse for costs of varying therapies to set annual limits.

Below is a list of known Private Health Cash Plan providers that recognise  CNHC registration for reimbursement.
